Panchpula (Five Bridges) is the scenic picnic site that has five small bridges over the streams emerging from natural reservoir. This beautiful spot is located barely 3 kms from G.P.O., the central hub of Dalhousie. An elegant monument (Samadhi) has been built here in the memory of the great revolutionary Sardar Ajit Singh (uncle of great martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh). Large number of people visits this Samadhi to pay homage to this great son of India.
Located on the trek from G.P.O. to Panchpula Satdhara Falls, is an excellent sightseeing and picnic spot in Dalhousie. The place has derived its name from the seven gorgeous springs that emerges naturally as a mixture of Seven streams. The water at Satdhara is believed to have curative properties that help to reduce the several diseases and ailments. Satdhara is a unique place filled with scenic beauty, serene ambiance and very pleasant climate.
Dalhousie is studded with four beautiful churches – St. Andrew’s Church and St. Patrick’s Church at Balun, St.Francis Church at Subhash Chowk and St. John’s Church at Gandhi Chowk. These Churches built during the British era are the important land marks of Dalhousie and are visited by number of tourist throughout the year.
Situated around 23 kms from Dalhousie lies Khajjiar, one of the most visited and beautiful spot of Himachal Pradesh and India. Khajjiar is popularly referred by names like Mini Switzerland and Gulmarg of Himachal. The lush green meadows of Khajjiar, endowed with exceptional scenic beauty, surrounded by thick pine and cedar forests, Grazing herds of sheep, goats and other milch cattle present a picture perfect scenery and is a photographer’s delight. A small lake with floating island situated in the center of the saucer shaped meadows further enhances the beauty of this beautiful place. A unique 12 th Century Khajji Nag Temple located here is known for its wonderful woodcarvings.
Located at an altitude of 8000 feet above sea level, Kalatop is one of the best Picnic spots of the region. From Kalatop you can go for a trekking to the summit of Dainkund hill and enjoy the panoramic view of rivers Chenab, Beas and Ravi. You can also have glimpses of The Pir Panjal Range of mountains. The wild life sanctuary here is also major attraction where you can see many Himalayan animals including the Ghoral and the Black Bear.
Built in the 10th century AD The worldly famous Lakshmi Narayan Temple of Chamba is dedicated and enshrines a beautiful image of Lord Vishnu. The temple has been built in the Shikhara style and an architectural marvel as well as a place of great historical significance. The temple of Radha krishna, Shiva Temple and Gauri Shankar Temple are other temples are also located within the complex. The temple complex is the main landmark of Chamba town and one of the most visited place of the region.
